Terms of Use

Terms and conditions for using the Capo iOS app.

Last updated: June 15, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Capo, the iOS app published by Kurbo under the Sonid brand (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading or using Capo, you agree to these Terms.

The app

Capo provides an interactive fretboard for studying chords, scales, and intervals, powered by the same music-theory catalog as Sonid. Features may change over time as we improve the product.

Capo is offered in a free tier (with banner ads) and Capo Plus, a subscription that removes ads and unlocks additional tunings and library filters.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Capo on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or redistribute the app or its content except as allowed by law
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use Capo to build a competing product using our proprietary assets
  • Remove copyright or trademark notices

All rights in Capo, including theory presentation, UI, and branding, remain with Kurbo and its licensors.

Subscriptions and payments

Capo Plus subscriptions are billed through Apple. Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled under Apple’s terms. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Prices may change; Apple will notify you of subscription price changes where required.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Capo lawfully and respectfully. Do not attempt to disrupt the service, abuse ad or analytics systems, or interfere with other users’ experience (for example, by automated scraping of embedded Sonid content).

Third-party services

Capo integrates with:

  • Apple App Store / StoreKit — distribution and subscriptions
  • Google AdMob — advertising in the free tier (AdMob terms)
  • Sonid — optional links to theory articles on sonid.app

Your use of those services is also subject to their respective terms and policies.

Internet and device

Some features (Learn articles, ads, subscription verification) require an internet connection. We are not responsible for carrier data charges or outages outside our control. Keep your device charged and secure; we are not liable if you cannot access Capo because your device is unavailable.

Disclaimers

Capo is provided “as is” for educational and practice purposes. Music theory information is for learning; we do not guarantee suitability for performance, teaching accreditation, or any particular musical outcome.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kurbo disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by applicable law, Kurbo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Capo. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or zero if you use the free tier).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

Termination

We may suspend or stop offering Capo at any time. Upon termination, your license ends and you must stop using and delete the app. Sections that by nature should survive (license restrictions, disclaimers, liability limits) will survive.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. The current version is always available at this URL.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country apply.
